I have been doing columns etc with the list element <li> ... display: inline ... for the list and display block for divisions inside the list element ... well something like that cant remember anymore.. thats how i avoid floating/clearing elements. Anything wrong with my method ? Just wondering why ppl create columns with divisions + floating/clearing elements....

People do float and clear ‘cause thats what they are used to or how they learned it… some because it is fashionable and in vogue.  All justify THEIR way of doing it as THE way.
