I would give this a 8 if the HTML had validated. Because of the numerous errors in validation, CSS could not be validated. Beauty and the pleasantness of the layout means nothing if there are no validation. So because of this, it didn't pass muster.

Nice layout and use of white space.

Ignore the validation for a second and you will see that it works wonders actually is an example of clever design.
