Hi All,

I have been reading about “favicon.ico” on the net and have tried it, but can’t seem to get it working.  Can someone please help me?

I have it in the root directory of my site, but IE7 isn’t seeing it… I doubt if anyone else can see it…

Any and all help GREATLY appreciated!

TIA,
Brenda

Make 100pix x 100pix image in any image application like Photoshop or PaintShopPro and in the end resize to 16pix x 16pix (suitable for the browsers).
Download for example Photoshop Plug-Ins\Filters to be able to save the file in ICO format because otherwise it wont work.
Name it favicon.ico and place it in root (unix) /public_html
Additionaly you can add this in head of the HTML document but it is not necessary

<link rel="shortcut icon" href="http://www.yourdomain.com/favicon.ico" />

See the example here http://www.msdeurope.com/favicon.ico

A better way of going about creating a favicon.ico is to use a Freeware piece of software called png2ico.  It takes a PNG and creates a ICO file from it, I’d hardily suggest you google it.  Cheers.

Thats a definite negative.  I’ve read other sources that have suggested alternative methods which involve renaming, but a lot of other sources (the more hardcore) blast this method to pieces.  I have also seen someone specify a shortcut icon as a gif in their meta tags, but I imagine this isn’t best practice, and it was weird seeing an animated favicon in my address bar.  Cheers.

If you are using WP, there is a plug-in available that simplifies the favicon issue.  Thanks.

1.Upload the generated file ("favicon.ico") to your site. Verify it’s there by typing mysite.com/favicon.ico in the browser’s location, where “mysite.com” is your site’s address burun estetiği.
2.Next, insert the below code in the HEAD section of your pages, at the very least, your site’s main index page:

<link rel="shortcut icon" type="image/x-icon" href="/favicon.ico">

3.That’s it saç ekimi! Note that your favicon may not appear immediately after you’ve completed the above two steps göğüs estetiği. In fact, it may take a few days, and in IE, sometimes the favicon will disappear from time to time due to a browser bug.

Once your Favicon.ico file was producted via any generator. Upload it to your website and add <link rel="shortcut icon” href="/favicon.ico" />
code into your HTML. The code should be placed after your <head> tag burun ameliyatı.

Getting favicons to work can be a real pain. I used to try to get them to work on Blogger.
After finally getting this to happen, I switched to Wordpress. It always seems like Favicons
are one big battle. Finally, I just gave up. But I do know there are some awesome Wordpress
Plugins (for those of you using Wordpress) that makes them work really easily. :)
