We’ve developed a tag cloud generator for websites and another one for text files.

Features:

-add your own stylesheet
-choose stopword language
-optionally set limit for word count output

Check it at: http://www.artviper.net/validator/index.php

The stylesheet needs following classes / tags:

-verysmall
-small
-medium
-large
-verylarge
-megalarge
body

Using the text file tag cloud generator

http://www.artviper.net/validator/text.php?&url=YOURURL&css=YOURCSSFILE&lng=YOURLANGUAGE

whereas &lng;= can be DE,EN,IT,NL at the moment.

Folks,

We have a couple of cloud generators ... both use xFolk Microformatting.  The Tag Cloud Generator builds a normal TC from your URL.  The xFolk Cloud generator takes tags you input and builds a fancier version.  Both use Microformats so ping after you have it in place on your site.  They are located here: http://relaxseo.com/seo-central.html

Aren’t tag clouds bad from an accessible web development point of view? how is the size of each tag in a cloud represented apart from visually? how can a text-browser or screenreader get the equivalent information which a visual user can get?  has anyone devised a clever way of representing these clouds in an accessible manner?

This was part of the reason for adding rel-tag, while the weight is not ‘machine readable’, the tags themselves are.  This is also the reason for two Cloud Generators.  The Tag Cloud Generator examines your web page and makes a determination based on keyword density.  The xFolk Cloud Generator allows you to specify your Tags.

Funny but rel-tag does not appear in GRDDL but of course will extract with RDF xslt.  We still think the best balance is SIOC (Shock) and are incorporating SIOC, DC and other Microdata into our CMS.  We will provide mini-previews from time to time.

nice one Dave- I noticed you mentioned a microformat in the previous post, and has assumed you would use it for adding some kind of semantics - however I didn’t do any investigating!
Your work sounds interesting - I’ll have to have a nosey at your site sometime - I about to move house in about 12hrs so It’s hectic here right now!

Folks,

Introducing the ‘watch cloud’.  This demonstrations shows how feed collections are used as the source and how clouds (semantic fields/lenses) can be configured to illuminate data of interest to business intelligence.

It’s been a while since I let you guys know what we are up to with regards to Tag Clouds (Visualization of Semantic Fields) ...

I guess the best way to put it is; here is the presentation layer: http://relaxseo.com/advanced-keyword-discovery.html ... and this is the concept:  http://relaxseo.com/premium-keyword-research-tool.html

We find this very intuitive for analysis of Concept ‘Neighborhoods’.
