Hi, I’m in the middle of learning about layout CSS. IE is driving me nuts. I have this page that looks pretty much exactly how I want it in firefox, safari, and netscape, but in IE the main container DIV isn’t as wide as I’m telling it to be, and it looks ridiculous. * After banging my head against my mac for a while I went to work and found that the problem is quite different in Windows—there the container div is the right width, but the content of the right column begins (in the correct column) only below the level where the content of the left column ended. It looks better, but still isn’t right, and leaves me even more confused than I was.

Here are screen shots of the difference between browsers (and the styles). These are both on the Mac, I have no picutres from IE/Windows. http://melavids.cluemail.com/testing/screenshots.html

And the page itself is here:

The stylesheet is internal, so it should be easy for someone smarter than me to figure out what is going on?

Thanks a lot!

O. That’s smart of them. Unfortunately I solved the issue on the mac (incomplete doctype), but it’s the windows problem that remains. I really don’t understand what microsoft (or any company) stands to gain by making their own rules? Anyway, thanks for the response.
